A good friend of mine, Penny, is an absolute angel. She really cares about people and joined a website so that she can send food parcels to the soldiers out in Afghanistan. She's met a few soldiers and has been emailing them and even met up with one when he was home on leave last month (we all thought they'd fall in love, but it didn't work out)
Anyway, she's been in contact with one soldier, Sean, for a while and is always talking about him. He's 20 and comes from up north somewhere. (Penny's 40) She's always telling us about how sorry she feels for him, he's so young to be out in Afghan and has seen things noone should have to see. He's never had a proper girlfriend and Penny says that it breaks her heart that he has never been in love or has no girlfriend to write to him and send his messages of love whilst he's there. (She's even more of a romantic than me!!)
Anyway, every sliver lining has a cloud. He's apparently really dirty, constantly texts her about meeting up and fucking her - please don't forget the 20 year age difference!! - He's not always that clever, but he's a really good listener and just needs someone to love him.
Whilst he's back in England Penny wanted to do something for him and thought about teaching him to drive, but decided that she probably shouldn't be left in an enclosed space alone with him. (Yeah, she'd fuck him given half the chance!!!) Anyway, she's given him my msn address and we've been msn-ing for the last two days!! I've gien him my phone number and he's phoned me twice. He phoned me this afternoon just to check I'm ok coz I haven't been online all day!!!
I know very well that he just wants to meet up for a shag, but I'm not going to let that happen - not yet anyway, I am trying to twist SingleMans theories into what to do to be a good catch online!! After what Penny says I think that I can be an online 'girlfriend' and do my bit to help him through the tough days.
I know what you're thinking; although I know I'm looking for a relationship I know I'm not going to find that with Sean, I don't even want to fall in love with him- or him to fall in love with me. I'm going to be 100% honest to him, be a good friend and use my attention seeking nature for good, he gives me attention, I give him all the attention and open ears he wants!!! He really does seem like a lovely guy.
I know this is a really clumsily written post, but I figured that having friends is a million times more important than anything else. And soldiers out in horrible places need all the friendly emails and letters they can get, especially if they're only 20 (and only just turned 20 at that) and have never been in love.
I may, incidently have met someone online, but I'm not going to blog about it yet because I don't really trust the internet for that sort of thing and it'll probably come to nothing so there'll be no point starting a story which is going to be boring or have a rubbish ending!!!
